Another week, another branding project and website.

The brand new website, hunkydorypublishing.com, showcases Hunkydory’s impressive portfolio of books and magazines.

Hunkydory publishing wesbite by Flying Leaf Associates

Of course, we designed the logo as well as the site itself (which is strictly beta at the moment – we needed to get it live ahead of this week’s London Book Fair). The logo was designed to reflect Hunkydory’s specialism in magazines and books for children and teenagers.

Hunkydory Logo by Flying Leaf

Hunkydory Publishing’s site is once again built on the Squarespace platform. Squarespace is similar to Wordpress, but is a hosted solution so you don’t have to worry about setting up your own hosting, or constantly installing updates to the software and plugins. Our clients love it, because it’s easy for them to log in and make changes or post news stories.

You can read the full press release about the site launch over on Hunkydory Publishing’s news pages.

As part of our biggest ever rebranding project we designed and built the new www.transportplanningassociates.co.uk website for Transport Planning Associates – formerly Pinnacle Transportation.

The site – and new branding – went live on April 1st. We’ve opted to use the Squarespace platform once again because it provides a great CMS for the client to upload news stories and picture galleries.

TPA website designed by Flying Leaf

It was great to work with the Transport Planning Associates team and we’re really pleased with the results – particularly the lightweight javascript carousel on the TPA homepage which was based on the 2kb Crossfader by Brandspankingnew. It took quite a while to get Internet Explorer 6 to play nice, but we got there in the end.

We’re proud to announce that the second Flying Leaf-designed website is now live.

The new Playcast Media website as part of a branding revitalisation that also included printed promotional material. Both the website and the printed material include illustration and copywriting by Flying Leaf.

We’re really excited to be working with Playcast Media, which is a service that sends console-quality games direct to TV set-top boxes. With Playcast plugged into their service, cable and IPTV operators can offer games on demand just like movies on demand.

Playcast website designed by Flying Leaf

The new site was built on the Squarespace platform, which provides hosting and a decent CMS, plus a decent amount of creative flexibility.

The Playcast homepage features an incredibly lightweight javascript carousel by Catch My Fame which doesn’t require the browser to load any additional javascript libraries. And unlike Flash, it plays nicely with iPhone and Blackberry.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering – here’s how the website used to look:

The film was shot and edited by the brilliant Tim Bunn, but my fair hands were responsible for scripting, storyboarding, titles and animation. And presenting, of course.

To create the animation, I used Final Cut Pro, a little bit of (the awful) LiveType, Illustrator, Photoshop and Keynote.

Hello, and welcome to the new Flying Leaf website, which is still very much in beta.

Who the devil are we?

Flying Leaf is Lise Meyrick (design director) and Tom Dunmore (editorial director), plus a bunch of talented illustrators, designers, developers, film-makers and writers.

What do we do?

We make cool things in print and pixels. We’ll turn our hand to anything: we’ve already produced magazines, CD covers, books, websites, illustrations, videos, animations and lots of words. And all of them have been produced with love.

You can ask us to create anything: just please don’t call it ‘content’.

Who do we work with?

Despite being little more than a green shoot, Flying Leaf already has a blue-chip publishing client in the shape of Haymarket Media, plus a number of smaller clients. We’ll be using this site to give you an idea of the breadth of our portfolio.

How can you find out more?

You can contact us here. And if you don’t fancy checking Flyingleaf.co.uk regularly, you can always sign up to our Twitter feed.
